Make a day of it

Plan your Walton & Hersham away day

The Sports Hub sits beside the Thames but well away from both railway stations. The practical choices are an early on-site arrival, a riverside stop at the club-endorsed Weir, or a centre-and-taxi plan with the final leg fixed before kick-off.

01

The Weir and short walk

Use the only club-endorsed pub, then follow Waterside Drive to the correct Sports Hub entrance and visitor turnstile.

02

Rail and planned transfer

Arrive at Walton-on-Thames or Hersham, use the 564 or a pre-booked taxi, and do not underestimate the club's 50-minute walking estimate.

03

Early on-site driver

Arrive before the parking peak, follow stewarding into the Sports Hub car park and keep a reserved Walton-on-Thames fallback if availability matters.

A sensible 3pm plan

11:30 - arrive at the station, Walton centre or the parking plan confirmed for the full event window.

11:45-13:20 - use The Weir under its current welcome, or a mapped check-first venue after confirming colours and group admission.

13:25 - take the checked transfer or Waterside Drive route and confirm whether shared or segregated entry applies.

14:05 - enter the correct turnstile; arrange seating or accessibility before matchday rather than at the hard-standing gate.

17:00 onwards - use the saved 564 or taxi plan, or allow the shared sports-complex car park to clear.

Food and pubs

The Weir Hotel is the club-endorsed close choice. The Anglers and Ashley Park are verified active but remain check-first because neither publishes a permanent away-colours policy; Walton town centre is the broader fallback before the long final leg.

Things to do

The Thames towpath, Walton Bridge and riverside suit an early arrival near the ground. Walton town centre and Elmbridge Museum work better with a taxi or plenty of walking time, while Hampton Court requires a deliberately planned half-day rather than a tight pre-match visit.
