Make a day of it
Anfield has no convenient heavy-rail station beside it, so the best day starts in central Liverpool and uses an express bus, Soccerbus or a planned walk for the final leg.
Use Liverpool city centre for food and pubs, then take the 917 express from near Lime Street.
Connect onto Merseyrail, use Soccerbus to Anfield and follow the away approach to Anfield Road.
Head to Arkles or the ticketed fan-zone area early and enter before the security queue peaks.
11:00 - arrive at Lime Street and use the mapped city-centre area for food or a drink.
13:00 - take the 917 or Merseyrail and Soccerbus towards Anfield.
13:35 - approach the lower Anfield Road entrances from the side named in the current guide.
17:00 onwards - join the managed bus or Soccerbus queue, or allow the first wave of pedestrians to clear before leaving.
Arkles is the mapped designated away pub. The Flat Iron is check-first, The Park and The Albert are home-only, Liverpool city centre is the recommended wider base, and the Anfield fan zone and away concourse provide ticketed options close to kick-off.
The Royal Albert Dock, Museum of Liverpool and the waterfront suit a city-centre start. The Beatles Story, Cavern Quarter and Bold Street are practical additions for an overnight trip.
These options keep the final matchday journey relatively short. Compare event-night prices, parking and cancellation terms before booking.
A central base is usually better for the station, food and the evening after the match.
Travel, parking, ticket allocations and stadium procedures can change by fixture. Check the latest information from both clubs and the relevant operator before travelling. Guide checked 1 October 2026.
