Easter Road works especially well as a rail-and-walk trip. Supporters can base themselves around lower Leith Walk, Easter Road or central Edinburgh, then approach the South Stand with time for the matchday crowd.

Tram and Leith
Use McDonald Road or Foot of the Walk, explore Leith and walk back south for kick-off.
Stay overnight
Choose lower Leith Walk for proximity or central Edinburgh for the broadest evening and rail choice.
A sensible 3pm plan
10:45 - arrive at Waverley and use Calton Hill, the Royal Mile or central Edinburgh if desired.
12:15-13:35 - move to lower Leith Walk or a mapped Easter Road option; do not rely on closed Middletons.
14:05 - walk to the South Stand entrance printed on the ticket.
17:00 - return on foot or wait for the first tram and road surge to ease.
Food and pubs
The Hibernian map includes the current visiting route, two established pubs and a clearly labelled temporarily closed venue. Every pub may alter its door policy for the derby or other high-demand fixtures.
Things to do
Calton Hill and the east end of Princes Street fit naturally between Waverley and the stadium. With more time, the Shore and Royal Yacht Britannia offer a fuller Leith visit but require tram or bus planning.
Hotels near Easter Road
Park View House Hotel is east of the stadium beside Leith Links. Holiday Inn Express Edinburgh City Centre and Courtyard by Marriott Edinburgh sit on the Waverley side of the walk and provide more conventional city options.
Leith and city-centre hotels
Malmaison Edinburgh at the Shore suits a longer Leith stay and needs a tram or bus to the match. Motel One Edinburgh-Princes and Apex Waterloo Place keep Waverley and the central evening close.
