Easter Road sits in Leith, east of the city centre. Edinburgh Waverley, McDonald Road tram stop and frequent buses make public transport the practical choice; there is no general stadium car park and surrounding streets are tightly controlled.
Edinburgh Waverley is around a mile and a half from Easter Road. The walk normally takes 20-25 minutes via Waterloo Place, London Road and Easter Road, with extra time sensible after full-time.
Waverley has direct services from Glasgow, Newcastle, York, London and much of Scotland. Check the last return and any engineering work before an evening or Sunday fixture.
McDonald Road on Leith Walk is the nearest tram stop, around 10-15 minutes on foot. Trams run through the city centre to Newhaven and Edinburgh Airport.
Lothian Buses serve Leith Walk, London Road, Easter Road and Lochend Road. Use the live planner because diversions and stop closures can accompany large fixtures.
From the west, follow the M8 and city-centre signs before taking the Leith and London Road route. From the south and east, the A1 to London Road avoids crossing as much of central Edinburgh.
Do not navigate only to Albion Place. Matchday traffic management can close approaches to private spaces, while controlled and residents-only bays cover much of the area.
Walking back to Waverley or McDonald Road is usually more predictable than waiting in local road traffic. Private-space users should expect short access holds while pedestrians clear Albion Road and the South Stand approaches.
