Make a day of it
Tannadice is close enough to central Dundee for a proper city day without complicated transfers. Start around the station and waterfront, then walk or take a short bus uphill after checking which visiting stand your ticket uses.
Use the station, waterfront and Nethergate area, then allow 35 minutes for the uphill walk.
Use a checked Clep or Strath plan and reach the correct away stand before queues build.
Choose a central hotel for rail, restaurants and the evening rather than relying on the restricted stadium streets.
10:30-11:00 - arrive at Dundee station and visit the waterfront or centre.
12:15-13:30 - use Trades House centrally, or the Clep or Strath after checking admission for the fixture.
14:10 - head to the stand and turnstile printed on the ticket.
17:00 - walk downhill towards the centre while the immediate roads clear.
The Clep and Strath have the clearest current near-ground evidence for visiting supporters. Trades House provides a central alternative; The Troll remains check-first and YES Sports Bar is marked home-only because visiting colours are prohibited.
V&A Dundee and Discovery Point are beside the station, while the McManus Galleries sit in the centre. Football visitors can also walk the short distance between Tannadice and Dens, the closest pair of senior grounds in Britain.
Travelodge Dundee Strathmore Avenue is one of the nearer branded hotels. Premier Inn Dundee North works better for drivers, although both still require checking the safest walking route after an evening fixture.
Hotel Indigo Dundee, Staybridge Suites Dundee and Apex City Quay Hotel keep rail, the waterfront and the broadest evening choice convenient. Central accommodation also avoids driving through the matchday restriction zone.
Travel, parking, ticket allocations and stadium procedures can change by fixture. Check the latest information from both clubs and the relevant operator before travelling. Guide checked 12 September 2026.
