Charlton Athletic travel guide

Getting there & parking

The Valley is an away-day destination where the final approach matters. Check the fixture information before travel because parking, segregation and coach arrangements can change.

Parking options

Compare official and private matchday parking

Official matchday parking

Matchday parking at The Valley is limited to permits, operations, hospitality and pre-arranged accessible users. There is no dependable general away-supporter car park at the stadium.

Use a legitimate public car park around Greenwich, Woolwich or another rail stop and complete the journey by train or bus. Accessible parking is scarce and must be arranged in advance with the clubs.

Private matchday parking

JustPark lists reservable managed spaces and private driveways in Charlton. Search around the stadium postcode, then check the real walking route, access window and cancellation terms before booking.

Private spaces are independent of the club; a very close driveway may still sit inside the post-match traffic queue.

Availability, prices and access arrangements can change by fixture. Always check the booking details before travelling.

By train

Charlton station is roughly five minutes from The Valley and receives trains from central London and the Greenwich line. Follow the signed Floyd Road route and check weekend engineering work, as diversions via the Elizabeth line, DLR or local buses may be required.

By bus or coach

Numerous London buses serve Charlton, Woolwich Road and nearby Greenwich. They are useful from North Greenwich or Woolwich but can be delayed by matchday traffic, so allow a generous final connection.

Driving

The A2, A102 and South Circular provide the wider approaches. Streets around The Valley are heavily residential, with controlled bays, narrow access and post-match pedestrian traffic; do not circle Floyd Road looking for an informal space.

Use SE7 8BL only for the general area, then follow matchday signs and the entrance named in your parking instructions. Allow extra time for residential roads and pedestrian traffic.

After the match

Expect the roads immediately around The Valley to move slowly while pedestrians clear. Rail users should confirm the last practical connection; drivers may prefer to wait before joining the main route.

Travel, parking, ticket allocations and stadium procedures can change by fixture. Check the latest information from both clubs and the relevant operator before travelling. Guide checked 29 September 2026.
