Make a day of it
St. Andrew's is close enough to combine with central Birmingham or Digbeth, but the last mile and the pub door policy need planning. Bordesley is convenient only when the matchday train actually calls.
Start near Moor Street or the Old Crown, then allow 25-30 minutes for the signed walk to the Gil Merrick side.
Use the closest station only after the matchday journey planner confirms the extra call.
Follow the exact entrance for a club, event or private space and stay clear of resident-controlled streets.
11:30 - arrive at New Street or Moor Street and use the centre or a correctly categorised Digbeth venue.
13:20 - start the walk or confirmed Bordesley connection.
13:50 - reach the Gil Merrick approach and check the turnstile on the ticket.
17:00 - walk back through Digbeth while road closures and car-park queues begin to ease.
The Cricketers Arms and Old Crown are mapped mixed-supporter friendly. Birmingham city centre and Digbeth form the recommended wider area; the Royal George and Roost are home-only, with the Gil Merrick concourse after entry.
The Bullring, Birmingham Museum and the canals around Brindleyplace fit an early city-centre arrival. Digbeth's Custard Factory and street-art quarter sit naturally on the walking route towards Bordesley.
These options keep the final matchday journey relatively short. Compare event-night prices, parking and cancellation terms before booking.
A central base is usually better for the station, food and the evening after the match.
Travel, parking, ticket allocations and stadium procedures can change by fixture. Check the latest information from both clubs and the relevant operator before travelling. Guide checked 30 September 2026.
