Make a day of it

Plan your Aberdeen away day

Aberdeen works well as a centre-to-stadium day: arrive around Union Square, use the broad city-centre choice, then follow King Street to Pittodrie. An overnight stay also opens up the beach and Old Aberdeen.

01

City centre first

Start near Union Square or Castle Street, then allow a clear 35-minute walking margin.

02

Direct to Pittodrie

Reserve parking, use a checked King Street venue and approach the South Stand from the correct side.

03

Stay overnight

Base yourself centrally for the station, restaurants and the evening, with Pittodrie still walkable.

A sensible 3pm plan

10:30-11:00 - arrive centrally if combining the match with the harbour, beach or Old Aberdeen.

12:30 - use the Saltoun Arms or another mapped option whose matchday policy you have checked.

14:10 - begin the final walk to the South Stand approach.

17:00 - walk back towards King Street or the centre while the immediate road queue settles.

Food and pubs

The Aberdeen map distinguishes the Saltoun Arms' visiting-supporter history from venues where admission remains unconfirmed. Central Aberdeen is the dependable fallback for choice.

Things to do

Aberdeen Beach is beside Pittodrie, while the Maritime Museum and Union Street fit a central plan. Old Aberdeen and St Machar's Cathedral are north of the ground and suit an earlier arrival.

Hotels by the station and centre

Leonardo Hotel Aberdeen is integrated with Union Square, while Sandman Signature Aberdeen Hotel is farther north in the centre. Both keep rail, restaurants and the city-centre pub choice practical.

Travel, parking, ticket allocations and stadium procedures can change by fixture. Check the latest information from both clubs and the relevant operator before travelling. Guide checked 11 September 2026.
