Vicarage Road is close enough to central Watford for a simple rail day, but road closures and the lack of stadium parking make advance driving plans essential.

Mainline route
Use Watford Junction, allow around 20 minutes on foot and stop centrally before turning down Vicarage Road.
Pre-booked driver
Reserve a council, school or private space outside the closure zone and finish on foot.
A sensible 3pm plan
11:30 - arrive at Watford Junction or Watford High Street and stay in the centre.
12:00-13:30 - use the designated Oddfellows or another correctly categorised mapped venue.
13:40 - walk to the Vicarage Road Stand and allow time for the road closure and ticket checks.
17:00 onwards - return on foot to the chosen station or wait for pedestrian traffic to clear before leaving a booked car park.
Food and pubs
The Oddfellows is the designated away pub, The Moon Under Water is mapped as mixed-supporter friendly, and the Red Lion is home-only. The away concourse is the certain option after entry, although alcohol is not currently advertised there.
Things to do
Cassiobury Park is the best open-space detour west of the centre. Watford Museum and the High Street are easier to combine with the walk from Watford Junction or Watford High Street.

A central base is usually better for the station, food and the evening after the match.
