Getting there & parking

Vicarage Road is an away-day destination where the final approach matters. Check the fixture information before travel because parking, segregation and coach arrangements can change.

Parking options

Compare official and private matchday parking

Official matchday parking

Watford FC states that there is no general parking at the ground. Accessible spaces are limited and must be requested in advance through the club's ticketing or disabled-supporter team.

Use a legitimate town-centre car park or a fixture-specific pre-booked school site, then walk. Watford Borough Council publishes the current road closures and parking options; do not rely on street spaces beside the stadium.

Private matchday parking

JustPark lists reservable managed spaces and private driveways in Watford. Search around the stadium postcode, then check the real walking route, access window and cancellation terms before booking.

Private spaces are independent of the club; a very close driveway may still sit inside the post-match traffic queue.

Availability, prices and access arrangements can change by fixture. Always check the booking details before travelling.

By train

Watford High Street is the closest station, roughly a 10-15 minute walk from the away end. Watford Junction has faster mainline links and is around 20 minutes on foot; Watford Underground is another option west of the centre. Check engineering work and the route home before choosing between them.

By bus or coach

Check the current local timetable for the final leg to Vicarage Road. Away coaches and minibuses should follow the instructions issued by the visiting club and must not assume a public parking bay.

Driving

Approaches normally use the M1 or M25 followed by the A41 or A412. Vicarage Road closes around the match, nearby bays are suspended and surrounding streets include residents-only controls, so driving to the stadium postcode without a booking is not a workable plan.

Use WD18 0ER only for the general area, then follow matchday signs and the entrance named in your parking instructions. Allow extra time for residential roads and pedestrian traffic.

After the match

Expect the roads immediately around Vicarage Road to move slowly while pedestrians clear. Rail users should confirm the last practical connection; drivers may prefer to wait before joining the main route.

Travel, parking, ticket allocations and stadium procedures can change by fixture. Check the latest information from both clubs and the relevant operator before travelling. Guide checked 28 September 2026.
