Make a day of it

Plan your The Spartans away day

The Spartans is a north-Edinburgh trip where the last bus and the absence of general stadium parking matter more than distance. Choose a city-centre start, a Goldenacre stop or a direct public-transport route, then protect time for Pilton Drive.

01

City-centre bus

Arrive at Waverley or Haymarket, use central Edinburgh, then take a live-timed bus to Crewe Toll or Ferry Road.

02

Goldenacre stop

Use a mapped check-first venue for food, then walk west or take a short checked connection to Ainslie Park.

03

Booked private space

Reserve a driveway or event space around EH5 2HF and verify the walking route before setting off.

A sensible 3pm plan

11:15 - arrive at Waverley, Haymarket or the confirmed private parking space.

11:45-13:15 - use central Edinburgh, Goldenacre or a mapped check-first venue.

13:20 - take the checked bus or begin the final walk towards Pilton Drive.

14:05 - enter through the instructed turnstile and follow signs to the Bain & Irvine Stand.

17:00 - walk to Crewe Toll or Ferry Road for the planned bus while local road traffic clears.

Food and pubs

Village Hotel, The Herringbone and Old Chain Pier are verified current venues but all remain check-first because none publishes a permanent away-colours policy. Goldenacre and Trinity are the recommended wider area, with the stadium concourse mapped separately.

Things to do

The Royal Botanic Garden and Stockbridge fit an early arrival, while Leith waterfront works for a longer day with a planned bus connection. Central Edinburgh attractions add substantial travel time, so protect the final journey to Pilton Drive.

Travel, parking, ticket allocations and stadium procedures can change by fixture. Check the latest information from both clubs and the relevant operator before travelling. Guide checked 30 September 2026.
