Make a day of it
Swindon offers a compact station-to-ground trip with both the town centre and Old Town available before the match. Drivers can use the same route once parked at a legitimate nearby site.
Arrive by rail, use central pubs and allow fifteen minutes for the walk to the away entrance.
Use the mapped Old Town choices, then walk downhill to the County Ground with time to spare.
Choose central Swindon for rail and restaurants, with Old Town reached separately.
11:00 - arrive at Swindon station and visit STEAM or the Designer Outlet if desired.
12:15-13:45 - use the Merlin, Glue Pot, Castle or another mapped mixed venue.
14:10 - walk to the Arkell's or Stratton Bank entrance shown on the ticket.
17:00 - return to the centre and station while road traffic clears.
The Swindon pub map identifies several mixed-supporter choices within about fifteen minutes, plus the home-side stadium bar to avoid. All door policies remain fixture-dependent.
STEAM Museum and the McArthurGlen Designer Outlet are west of the station and suit an early arrival. The Museum of Computing and Old Town are closer to the centre but in different directions.
Leonardo Hotel Swindon and Travelodge Swindon Central are both on the central side of the ground, within a manageable walk of the station and stadium.
Holiday Inn Express Swindon City Centre is convenient for the railway station. The Goddard Arms provides an Old Town alternative for supporters prioritising that area's pubs and restaurants.
Travel, parking, ticket allocations and stadium procedures can change by fixture. Check the latest information from both clubs and the relevant operator before travelling. Guide checked 15 September 2026.
