Swindon Town travel guide

Getting there & parking

The County Ground sits between Swindon station, the town centre and Old Town. It is walkable by rail, while general matchday parking is normally provided at nearby schools and the cricket club rather than inside the stadium.

Compare official and private matchday parking

Official matchday parking

Swindon Town's current away travel information directs supporters to St Joseph's Catholic College behind the ground, Drove Primary School or Swindon Cricket Club. These sites are separate from the main stadium footprint and availability is first-come or fixture-dependent.

Check the latest price, payment method and opening time before travelling. The County Ground has only limited pre-arranged accessible parking.

Private matchday parking

JustPark has a dedicated County Ground page with private driveways and managed spaces around Shrivenham Road, Drove Road and central Swindon.

Compare the walking route and post-match exit, enter the correct registration and extend the reservation beyond the expected final whistle.

Availability, prices and access arrangements can change by fixture. Always check the booking details before travelling.

By train

Swindon station is on the Great Western Main Line with direct trains from London Paddington, Reading, Bristol and South Wales. The County Ground is around ten to fifteen minutes away on foot.

Use Station Road and the town-centre route towards County Road. Allow longer after full-time and check the last return or any replacement-bus arrangement.

By bus or coach

Swindon's central bus station is also within walking distance. Most rail and coach arrivals can complete the final leg on foot rather than changing services.

Official away coaches follow match-specific drop-off and parking instructions from the visiting club. Do not approach stadium entrances without the confirmed coach plan.

Driving

Swindon is reached from M4 Junctions 15 or 16, depending on origin. Navigate to the selected school, cricket club or private space rather than only the stadium postcode.

County Road, Drove Road and residential streets become congested. Read restrictions carefully and do not assume supermarket or retail parking permits a full football stay.

After the match

The stadium is close enough to the station that walking is usually the most predictable escape. Drivers should expect queues around County Road and the routes back to the M4.

Travel, parking, ticket allocations and stadium procedures can change by fixture. Check the latest information from both clubs and the relevant operator before travelling. Guide checked 15 September 2026.
