Make a day of it
The ground is in the Bede industrial estate, while the stronger pub, hotel and visitor choice is around South Shields town centre and the ferry. The Metro links the two cleanly.
Use the Market Place or ferry-side area, then take the Yellow line to Bede for the five-minute stadium walk.
Travel straight to Bede, use Tam's or the stadium lounges only after checking the live fixture notice, and enter through the instructed turnstile.
Arrive well before kick-off for unreserved Shaftesbury Avenue or Bedesway parking, or reserve a legitimate private space.
11:15 - arrive in South Shields centre or Newcastle and connect to the Metro.
12:00-13:20 - use a correctly categorised mapped venue and eat before leaving the wider centre.
13:25 - travel to Bede and check whether segregation is operating.
17:00 onwards - return to Bede for the Metro, or wait for the small parking areas and industrial-estate roads to clear.
Barbour and Leonard's lounges are mapped away-friendly because the club explicitly opened them to all supporters at a segregated fixture. Tam's Bar and the Alum Ale House are verified active but check-first; the town-centre and ferry cluster is the recommended wider area.
The Word, South Shields Market and the ferry landing fit a town-centre start. The seafront, Ocean Beach Pleasure Park and Arbeia Roman Fort need additional time and a planned return to the Metro.
These options keep the final matchday journey relatively short. Compare event-night prices, parking and cancellation terms before booking.
A central base is usually better for the station, food and the evening after the match.
Travel, parking, ticket allocations and stadium procedures can change by fixture. Check the latest information from both clubs and the relevant operator before travelling. Guide checked 4 October 2026.
