Getting there & parking

The Crown Oil Arena sits in Spotland, about two miles from Rochdale station and just over two miles from M62 Junction 20. The stadium car park is permit-only, but local partner parking and private driveways provide alternatives.

Parking options

Compare official and private matchday parking

Official matchday parking

The stadium car park is for permit holders. Current Dale Trust visitor guidance identifies free parking at Rochdale Cricket Club on Bridgefold Road and Spotland Bridge Mill on Mellor Street, both within walking distance; Oulder Hill School is another usual option.

Availability is not guaranteed for every fixture. Check the venue's current matchday post, arrive early and arrange accessible parking directly with the club.

Private matchday parking

JustPark currently lists reservable park-on-drive spaces close to the Crown Oil Arena, including Falkland Avenue around a five-minute walk away. There is no dependable stadium landing page, so the link opens a verified nearby listing rather than the JustPark homepage.

Confirm that the listing is available for the fixture, read access instructions and leave enough booking time for the road closures and post-match crowd.

Availability, prices and access arrangements can change by fixture. Always check the booking details before travelling.

By train or tram

Rochdale railway station has direct services from Manchester Victoria and Leeds and is around a 30-minute walk from the arena. Taxis are available, but post-match demand can be high.

Metrolink trams run from Manchester through Rochdale town centre. The town-centre stop leaves about a 20-minute walk to Spotland, so check whether rail or tram works best for the return.

By bus or coach

Local buses connect the station and town centre with the Sandy Lane and Edenfield Road area. Use the current Bee Network journey planner because routes and times can change.

Away coaches use controlled arrangements around Willbutts Lane. Matchday road orders can close or make nearby roads one-way, so coach organisers should follow the visiting club's instructions.

Driving

From M62 Junction 20, follow signs for Rochdale and then Spotland. The route is broadly direct, but Sandy Lane and Edenfield Road become congested close to kick-off.

Willbutts Lane and adjoining roads can be closed or restricted for away-coach safety. Navigate to the selected car park and check the current event traffic order rather than assuming the normal route is open.

After the match

Willbutts Lane traffic controls help clear away coaches but can alter pedestrian and vehicle routes. Allow a full 30-minute station walk and avoid a tight train connection.

Travel, parking, ticket allocations and stadium procedures can change by fixture. Check the latest information from both clubs and the relevant operator before travelling. Guide checked 15 September 2026.
