Make a day of it
Sixfields works best as either a direct stadium trip or a town-centre start followed by a planned final leg. The leisure park is convenient but does not replace checking pub and parking conditions.
Arrive early for official parking, use a mapped nearby option and enter through the South Stand.
Start near the station or Market Square, then allow 35 minutes to walk or use a planned bus.
Choose the centre for rail and evening choice, or a west-side hotel for simpler driving.
11:30 - arrive in Northampton centre or at the preselected car park.
12:00-13:40 - use the mapped pub or food options without relying on retail parking beyond its terms.
14:10 - approach the South Stand turnstiles.
17:00 - wait for the first A45 surge to pass or walk back towards the station.
The Northampton map includes current near-ground options and the away concourse. Supporter admission and alcohol service can change, so check the fixture before travelling in colours.
Northampton Museum and Art Gallery, the Market Square and the town's shoe-making history suit a central visit. Franklin's Gardens is nearby for rugby visitors but has its own event and parking controls.
Holiday Inn Express Northampton - South is a driving option near the M1 rather than a walkable stadium hotel. The Hopping Hare is west of the centre and convenient for motorists using the A45 approach.
Premier Inn Northampton Town Centre and ibis Northampton Centre keep the railway station and evening choice convenient. Both still require a walk, bus or taxi to Sixfields.
Travel, parking, ticket allocations and stadium procedures can change by fixture. Check the latest information from both clubs and the relevant operator before travelling. Guide checked 15 September 2026.
