Getting there & parking

Old Trafford is an away-day destination where the final approach matters. Check the fixture information before travel because parking, segregation and coach arrangements can change.

Parking options

Compare official and private matchday parking

Official matchday parking

Manchester United sells official matchday parking online. Availability is limited, prices and car-park entrances vary by fixture, and some spaces can be held after full-time while pedestrians clear.

Blue-badge and wheelchair-width bays must be reserved through the club rather than assumed with a standard booking. Car park E2 is also the visiting-supporter bag-drop location.

Private matchday parking

JustPark lists reservable managed spaces and private driveways in Manchester. Search around the stadium postcode, then check the real walking route, access window and cancellation terms before booking.

Private spaces are independent of the club; a very close driveway may still sit inside the post-match traffic queue.

Availability, prices and access arrangements can change by fixture. Always check the booking details before travelling.

By train

Mainline visitors normally arrive at Manchester Piccadilly or Oxford Road and continue by Metrolink. Old Trafford stop on the Altrincham line is a few minutes away; Wharfside and Imperial War Museum on the Trafford Park line provide useful alternatives nearer Salford Quays.

By bus or coach

Bee Network buses serve Chester Road, Trafford Bar and Salford Quays. Check the live journey planner because road closures and football traffic can alter the final leg; official coaches follow the visiting club's separate parking instructions.

Driving

Old Trafford is approached from the A56, A5081 or Trafford Road, but matchday closures and heavy pedestrian traffic affect Wharfside Way and Sir Matt Busby Way. Use the entrance supplied with the parking booking and arrive well before the two-hour turnstile opening.

Use M16 0RA only for the general area, then follow matchday signs and the entrance named in your parking instructions. Allow extra time for residential roads and pedestrian traffic.

After the match

Expect the roads immediately around Old Trafford to move slowly while pedestrians clear. Rail users should confirm the last practical connection; drivers may prefer to wait before joining the main route.

Travel, parking, ticket allocations and stadium procedures can change by fixture. Check the latest information from both clubs and the relevant operator before travelling. Guide checked 1 October 2026.
