The Metro makes this an easy Newcastle/Gateshead city day despite the stadium's athletics layout. Keep the final journey simple and use the Quayside or centre before travelling to Gateshead Stadium.

Quayside route
Start around the Tyne bridges and allow time to walk or connect to the Metro.
Drive direct
Arrive early for the shared free car parks or reserve a private fallback.
A sensible 3pm plan
11:00 - arrive at Newcastle Central or Gateshead.
11:30-13:30 - use the city centre or Quayside rather than the home-only stadium bar.
13:40 - take the Metro to Gateshead Stadium and follow East Stand signs.
17:00 - return by Metro while car parks and the A184 clear.
Food and pubs
The Stadium Bar is home-only. The Tilley Stone in Gateshead centre is check-first, while Newcastle/Gateshead Quayside offers the broadest food and drink choice before the short Metro ride.
Things to do
The Baltic, Sage Gateshead and Millennium Bridge are clustered on the Quayside. Newcastle city centre is one Metro stop beyond central Gateshead and works well for a longer visit.
