FC Halifax Town travel guide
The Shay is close to Halifax station and the town centre, making rail the easiest option. A large council-operated car park surrounds the stadium, but it is pay-and-display, shared and can fill for busy fixtures.
Halifax station is around a 10-to-15-minute walk from The Shay. Services connect with Leeds, Bradford, Manchester and Huddersfield, with onward national connections.
Use the town-centre exit and follow the signed route towards Shaw Hill. Check the final return for evening games because service patterns differ from Saturdays.
Halifax bus station is on the north side of the centre, roughly a 20-minute walk from the ground. Local routes can shorten the trip but are affected by town-centre traffic.
Away coaches use arrangements supplied to the visiting club and should not assume space in the public stadium car park.
The A629 is the main route from the M62, with approaches via Salterhebble or Ainley Top depending on direction. Halifax's gradients and one-way streets make the final mile slower than the map suggests.
Follow signs for The Shay and Shaw Hill, then obey the car-park entry and payment instructions. Check residential restrictions before considering street parking.
The station walk is short but includes busy crossings. Drivers leaving the main car park should expect queues on Shaw Hill and the A629 approaches.
