Dundee works well as a compact city break: the station, waterfront and central pubs sit together, while Dens is a straightforward uphill walk or short bus ride. Staying centrally is more useful than trying to stay beside the turnstiles.

Near the ground
Use the Clep or Strath after checking the fixture policy, then approach the Bob Shankly Stand early.
Stay overnight
Base yourself centrally for rail, restaurants and the waterfront rather than in the restricted stadium streets.
A sensible 3pm plan
10:30-11:00 - arrive at Dundee station and visit the waterfront or city centre.
12:15-13:30 - use Trades House centrally or a mapped venue near the grounds whose admission you have checked.
14:10 - begin the final approach and confirm the Bob Shankly or Main Stand entrance.
17:00 - walk downhill towards the centre while the stadium traffic clears.
Food and pubs
The Clep, Strath and Trades House have the clearest current visiting-supporter evidence. The Troll Inn remains check-first, while the city centre is the broad fallback for food and drink.
Things to do
V&A Dundee and Discovery Point are beside the station and fit even a short visit. The McManus Galleries are central, while the unusual sight of Dens and Tannadice almost side by side rewards an early walk around the stadium area.
Hotels near the stadium
Travelodge Dundee Strathmore Avenue is one of the nearer branded options and suits the north side of the city. Premier Inn Dundee North is more useful for drivers but is not an easy station hotel.
City-centre hotels
Hotel Indigo Dundee, Staybridge Suites Dundee and Apex City Quay Hotel keep the centre, waterfront and station practical. Compare the actual uphill stadium route and cancellation terms before booking.
