Make a day of it

Plan your Dover Athletic away day

Crabble is a remote-feeling hillside ground despite being close to Dover. The Kearsney and River route gives the most coherent local plan; Dover town centre works better for an overnight stay but needs a bus, taxi or stopping train onward.

01

Kearsney and River

Use a stopping train to Kearsney, follow Lower Road and choose a mapped check-first pub before the final climb.

02

Dover Priory and taxi

Use the town centre for food or an overnight stay, then take a checked bus or taxi to the lower Crabble entrance.

Stewarded driver

Use the rugby-ground parking only if the current fixture confirms it, or pre-book a legitimate Dover or River space.

A sensible 3pm plan

11:30 - arrive at Kearsney, Dover Priory or the parking location confirmed for the fixture.

11:45-13:20 - eat at a correctly categorised mapped venue or in Dover town centre before the onward journey.

13:25 - reach the lower complex and allow time for the steep climb, ticket checks and any segregation route.

17:00 onwards - descend carefully, return to Kearsney or allow the lower car park and Crabble Road to clear.

Food and pubs

The Cricketers and Royal Oak are current, walkable pubs listed in away-day guidance, but both remain check-first because neither publishes a permanent colours policy. The River and Kearsney route forms the recommended wider area, and the visiting concourse is mapped separately.

Things to do

Dover Castle and the White Cliffs suit an early arrival or overnight visit but require separate travel time from Crabble. Kearsney Abbey Gardens and Crabble Corn Mill are closer to the station-to-ground route; check opening times before planning a stop.

Travel, parking, ticket allocations and stadium procedures can change by fixture. Check the latest information from both clubs and the relevant operator before travelling. Guide checked 7 October 2026.
