Cheltenham Town travel guide

Getting there & parking

Whaddon Road is north-east of central Cheltenham, around two miles from Cheltenham Spa station. The ground is walkable from the centre, but residential streets and limited club parking make a planned space or public transport the safer choice.

Parking options

Compare official and private matchday parking

Official matchday parking

On-site matchday parking is limited and normally must be booked through Cheltenham Town in advance. Availability, entrance and price can change by fixture, so use the club or visiting club's current instructions.

If official parking is sold out, use a legitimate central public car park and walk, or reserve an authorised private space. Arrange accessible parking through the clubs before travel.

Private matchday parking

JustPark has a dedicated Whaddon Road destination page with reservable private driveways and managed spaces, including options advertised within five minutes of the football ground.

Check the exact route, vehicle-registration requirements and booking duration before paying; leave enough time for stoppage time and post-match queues.

Availability, prices and access arrangements can change by fixture. Always check the booking details before travelling.

By train

Cheltenham Spa is the town's main station. The direct walk to Whaddon Road is about two miles and normally takes 35-45 minutes; allow longer with a busy town centre or poor weather.

Local buses and taxis provide the practical final leg. Confirm the return service before an evening game rather than relying on a tight connection.

By bus or on foot

Services from the centre use the Prestbury Road and Whaddon Road corridors. Stops and journey times can be affected by matchday traffic.

The walk from the Promenade or Brewery Quarter is around 20 minutes, which makes the centre the most flexible pre-match base.

Driving

Cheltenham is reached from the M5 via the A40 or A4019. Navigate to the booked car park rather than only GL52 5NA, because the final residential roads are narrow and busy.

Check signs carefully: local restrictions and residents' spaces are enforced, and nearby retail parking should not be assumed to permit football use.

After the match

Whaddon Road and Prestbury Road become congested after full-time. Walking back towards the centre is often more predictable than waiting for the first taxi or bus.

Travel, parking, ticket allocations and stadium procedures can change by fixture. Check the latest information from both clubs and the relevant operator before travelling. Guide checked 13 September 2026.
