Make a day of it

Plan your Celtic away day

The most reliable Celtic away day starts in central Glasgow, where the food, hotel and pub choice is broad, before a planned journey east. Staying immediately beside Celtic Park offers little advantage beyond match access.

01

City centre first

Use George Square, Merchant City or the main-station area, then leave at least an hour for the final journey and queues.

02

Glasgow Green route

Use a checked venue such as WEST, then continue east on foot with a clear weather and admission plan.

03

Stay overnight

Choose Merchant City or the main station area for the widest hotel and evening choice.

A sensible 3pm plan

10:30-11:00 - arrive centrally if adding a museum, shopping or lunch.

12:15 - use a mapped central venue or confirmed booking at Glasgow Green.

13:45 - start the train, bus or walk towards Celtic Park; high-demand fixtures need more time.

17:00 - expect station queues and either walk west or allow the first public-transport surge to pass.

Food and pubs

The Celtic map deliberately treats central pubs as possibilities rather than guaranteed away venues and marks the stadium-side Celtic bars as home-only. A direct venue check matters for Rangers, European and other high-risk fixtures.

Things to do

The People's Palace and Glasgow Green sit on the route east, subject to current opening. Merchant City, Glasgow Cathedral and the city-centre museums suit a longer or overnight stay.

Hotels nearer Celtic Park

Moxy Glasgow Merchant City and Cathedral House are on the east side of the centre and reduce the stadium journey while retaining restaurants and public transport. They are still not beside the away turnstiles.

Central Glasgow hotels

voco Grand Central is attached to Glasgow Central station, while AC Hotel by Marriott Glasgow is close to George Square. Central accommodation is normally the most flexible choice for rail links and the evening.

Travel, parking, ticket allocations and stadium procedures can change by fixture. Check the latest information from both clubs and the relevant operator before travelling. Guide checked 11 September 2026.
