Make a day of it
Shrewsbury offers an excellent historic centre, but the stadium is separate from it. A good day depends on enjoying the centre early and leaving a clear travel margin for Oteley Road.
Use the riverside and central pub choice, then take a planned bus or taxi south.
Approach from the A5, use pre-arranged parking and choose a mapped pub on the stadium side of town.
Base yourself in central Shrewsbury for the station, historic streets and evening options.
10:30-11:00 - arrive early enough to enjoy the historic centre.
12:30 - finish the central pub stop and check the onward service.
13:30-13:45 - leave for the Croud Meadow.
17:15 onwards - return to town after the first transport rush where practical.
The pub map includes The Charles Darwin, The Peacock and the wider town-centre area. Check individual admission rules for high-demand fixtures.
The Quarry, River Severn loop, Shrewsbury Castle and the medieval town centre all suit an early arrival. Do not underestimate the onward distance to the stadium.
Premier Inn Shrewsbury Town Centre and The Lion Hotel are central choices. Holiday Inn Express Shrewsbury is more practical for drivers using the A5 and business-park side of town.
Travel, parking, ticket allocations and stadium procedures can change by fixture. Check the latest information from both clubs and the relevant operator before travelling. Guide checked 10 September 2026.
