Make a day of it
Preston works well as a compact rail away day: the centre has the widest choice, Deepdale is walkable, and several social clubs sit close to the stadium.
Start near the station or Market Square, then walk north through Moor Park.
Travel directly towards Deepdale and use one of the mapped social clubs that welcomes visitors.
Base yourself centrally for the station, pubs and restaurants rather than beside the ground.
11:30 - arrive at Preston station and use the city centre.
13:15 - begin the walk or take a bus towards Deepdale.
14:00 - reach the mapped away-friendly clubs or head to the Bill Shankly Kop.
17:00 - walk back towards the centre while road traffic clears.
The pub map includes St Gregory's, Moor Park Sports & Social Club and central alternatives. Deepdale Retail Park has food outlets but is not matchday parking.
The Sir Tom Finney 'Splash' statue is outside Deepdale. The Harris Museum and central market area fit naturally into a longer visit when open.
Holiday Inn Preston and Premier Inn Preston Central are convenient for the bus station and city centre. Legacy Preston International is useful for the railway station and west side of the centre.
Travel, parking, ticket allocations and stadium procedures can change by fixture. Check the latest information from both clubs and the relevant operator before travelling. Guide checked 10 September 2026.
