Reserve the stadium car park or confirm the Park and Ride before setting off.
Stay in the centre
Base yourself near the castle and station, accepting a separate transfer to the ground.
A sensible 3pm plan
11:30 - arrive in Colchester or at the reserved parking area.
12:00-13:20 - use a mapped pub or the city centre without losing sight of the final transfer.
13:30 - take the shuttle, bus or taxi, or walk from the Park and Ride.
17:00 - expect United Way and the A12 junction to clear slowly after full-time.
Food and pubs
The Dog & Pheasant and stadium bar are the closest mapped friendly choices. The Bricklayers and Victoria Inn work better for rail arrivals who leave enough time for the bus or taxi north.
Things to do
Colchester Castle, Castle Park and the Roman walls make the city centre a worthwhile longer stop, but they are not on the direct stadium route. Build in a separate bus or taxi leg to Junction 28.
