Carlisle Castle, the cathedral and Tullie museum fit naturally into a city-centre route. Confirm opening hours and leave the castle area in time for the eastward walk.
Warwick Lodge is on the route between the centre and ground. Premier Inn Carlisle Central North is useful for drivers but sits north of the most direct city-centre walk.
ibis Carlisle City Centre is close to the station and Botchergate, while Crown & Mitre Hotel is near the historic centre.
