Make a day of it

Plan your Barrow away day

Barrow rewards an early arrival: the station, town centre, docks and ground are close together, but the long Furness Line or A590 journey leaves little room for delay.

01

Station and centre

Arrive by rail, use the Ambrose or central food options, then walk about 15 minutes to Holker Street.

02

Straight to the ground

Use confirmed parking, Cross Bar and the Holker Street End for a simple match-focused trip.

03

Stay overnight

Base yourself centrally or by the waterfront to protect against a difficult same-day return.

A sensible 3pm plan

11:00 - arrive in Barrow, particularly if travelling via Lancaster.

12:00-13:40 - use the mapped Ambrose, Cross Bar or another confirmed option.

14:10 - walk to the correct Holker Street End entrance.

17:00 - return to the station with time in hand or wait for A590 traffic to begin clearing.

Food and pubs

Cross Bar is the simplest stadium option; the Ambrose is useful near the centre, while Hawcoat Park needs onward transport.

If you have extra time

The Dock Museum and waterfront suit an early arrival, subject to opening. Furness Abbey is farther out and works better for drivers or an overnight stay.

Travel, parking, ticket allocations and stadium procedures can change by fixture. Check the latest information from both clubs and the relevant operator before travelling. Guide checked 12 September 2026.
